Starting December 3, 2024, US-based users will automatically get a 7-day free trial with their first purchase. There is no charge if you cancel before the trial ends. This is the best way to see what a full membership is like before paying for it.

We don't currently offer a free trial for non-US customers, but you can view the lists of videos on this site to get an idea of the topics covered, and you can check out our Video Tour to see what the full member site looks like.

As of this writing (8/30/22), Step 1-Preclinical includes 126 hours of video and a question bank with 2,326 questions. Step 2-3-Clinical includes 78 hours, 34 minutes of video and a question bank with 1395 questions. 

How long Boards & Beyond is for you will depend on how you use it. 

Some students go through videos and quizzes multiple times because they're using Boards & Beyond as a supplement to their classes as well as a resource to study for the USMLE exams.

Other students pick and choose a few videos and question topics that they need more help understanding, rather than going through the entire video library and question bank.

All Boards & Beyond videos and questions are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and we make edits or additions as needed to stay up to date with current medical practice and standards.

We review both videos and questions on an ongoing basis to stay up to date with current medical practice and terminology. This includes identifying and correcting our language choices to be more inclusive of the range of human experience. Our aim is to align our teaching with the USMLE goals of mitigating bias and eliminating stereotypes.

Tens of thousands of students use our videos and each one does it a little differently. There really is no "right" or "wrong" way. Since the videos take a long time to watch, many students use them alongside classes during M2 year. This is by far the most popular way to use our materials. During dedicated study time, many students re-watch some but not all videos focusing on areas of difficulty.

As long as your account is active, you can watch a video as many times as you need to learn the material. Sharing of accounts is forbidden by our Terms of Service. View counts and logins are recorded and monitored. Users with excessive logins, or logins from multiple IP addresses may be contacted to verify their usage, and if a breach of the Terms of Service occurs, they may lose access to the site.

For Step 1, we only offer slide pdf files in two formats: one per page and six per page. 

For Step 2-3-Clinical, we only offer slide PDF files on the one per page format. We do not have plans to make a PDF with multiple slides available at this time.

We do not release PowerPoint files of Dr. Ryan's slides. Members may access free PDF files of Dr. Ryan's slides for each category through the Slides link on each category page, and per-video slides are available from each video page.

Your subscription starts when you sign up for an account. It ends 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, or 2 years from that date depending on which subscription you purchase. Your subscription end date is listed when you login on the member homepage.
